International expertise in geotechnics and hydrogeology

The Solexperts Group is involved in renowned projects worldwide with geotechnical and hydrogeological instrumentation and field tests. The projects include tunnelling, hydraulic engineering, special civil engineering, wind energy plants and research projects for nuclear waste disposal as well as for geothermal energy and the sequestration of CO2.

Geotechnics

Geotechnical instrumentation, measurements and field tests provide reliable information on the in-situ behaviour of structures located in difficult ground. They also form the basis for safe, cost-optimised and time-optimised construction.

Hydrogeology

Groundwater is an important ressource that has to be protected. At the same time, groundwater is also a risk factor – for example in civil engineering – and, in addition, is a transport medium for pollutants.

Monitoring

The development and use of automatic data acquisition systems (DAS) has been a major activity within Solexperts for more than 20 years.

Welcome to Solexperts

Innovation, expertise in geotechnics and hydrogeology

We develop and produce measurement systems and are a global service provider for instrumentation, monitoring and in-situ testing.

Solexperts AG was founded in 1947 by Giovanni Rodio. Since 1990, the Solexperts Group has been an independent company with around 90 employees in Switzerland, France (Nancy) and Germany (MeSy in Bochum, GTC Kappelmeyer in Karlsruhe).

Research and Development

Solexperts AG is increasingly becoming the extended workbench of research institutes and universities for design and prototype construction. We are currently involved in research projects with the following institutions (not exhaustive): UniNeuchatel, Uni Bern, Geoenergie Suisse, Bundesamt für Energie BFE, Bundesanstalt für Endlagerung BGE, Ruhr Universität Aachen und Bochum, ETH Zürich, EAWAG, Fraunhofer Institut, Karlsruher Institut für Technologie KIT, GeoRessources, Université Lorraine, Geoforschungszentrum Potsdam GFZ, Leibnitz Institut für angewandte Geophysik, NAGRA (ch), ANDRA (Fr), NUMO (Jp), NWMO (Ca), NWS (UK), LBNL (US), TU München

Determination of in-situ rock stresses

Knowledge of the in-situ primary stresses in the subsurface is a prerequisite for the planning of underground structures with regard to their dimensioning and long-term stability. Hydraulic fracturing (HF) and hydraulic testing of pre-existing fractures (HTPF) are the only methods for direct measurement of in-situ stresses.

Convergent shotcrete lining with high load-bearing capacity with hiDCon concrete elements

In 2004, the first tunnel section was equipped with the highly deformable hiDCon® concrete elements. The beam elements were installed in the shotcrete lining to support the rock and at the same time enable controlled convergence of the tunnel.

Groundwater monitoring with FO sensor cable

Our product range extends from groundwater monitoring and test systems to accessories, data acquisition and evaluation programmes. Solexperts integrates fibre optic sensors into multipacker systems. Fibre optic sensor cables are built into our packer systems and provide local high-resolution data for distributed temperature and strain measurements.
